Review of True Romance (1993) by Nicole T — 16 May 2011
This film just SCREAMS QUENTIN TARANTINO. It's one of the most well-written stories ever transcribed onto the screen. And if he had directed it, it could have been one of the greatest films of all time.
Sadly, the direction is just boring. It's lacking style and finesse, which Tarantino surely would have provided. It's not a perfect movie, but for some reason I can't resist not giving this film a 100.
It just has great writing, ginormous characters, one of the best ensemble casts ever and quite possibly the coolest shootout of all time. It's just gosh darn good filmmaking. Oh, and Gary Oldman was ridiculously awesome.
