Review of True Lies (1994) by Rick Q — 06 Apr 2012
"true lies" is a film that was made for people who want a popcorn flick, with car chases (or in this case, a motorcycle/horse chase) and something explodes almost every twenty minutes. unfortunately, I like my films to have a good story backed up by great performances.
I don't think I need to say it, but arnold schwarzenegger can't act! I feel as if the film could have been much more enjoyable had it's lead been played by someone who can convincingly deliver his lines.
the problems of the film can't all be blamed on him, though. it's a mindless film that parades it's hero as a borderline super man, where nothing really is too difficult to resolve, and goes on for about twenty five minutes longer than it needs to.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to find it in michael bay's dvd collection.
