Review of True Lies (1994) by Jenny B — 03 Oct 2012
Arnie once again hits my HOT PICKS! This time - in James Cameron's "True Lies". It is packed to the brim with action, comedy, a super cast and with a wonderfully far-fetched story you just can't possibly be disappointed.
Arnie is Harry Tasker, a secret agent - so secret even his wife doesn't know and thinks he has a dull job as a computer salesman. His home life is equally as dull and uneventful. Jamie Lee Curtis plays his wife who, bored with her relationship gets swept away by a stranger and is verging on having an affair.
Arnie juggles his secret agent job to use all the tools at his disposal to find out more about her affair. Cameron has action movies down to a tee after Aliens and Terminator 2, and it certainly shows here in True Lies.
The added element of comedy works really well. Arnie and Tom Arnold are superb together and the sniveling smarmy car salesman played by Bill Paxton almost verges on cartoon. True Lies is an action movie that doesn't take itself too seriously - it's a great bit of light relief for Saturday evening.
