Review of True Lies (1994) by Adam P — 07 Jan 2011
An action film so epic in scope, so audaciously long, and filled with self-parodying set pieces, one-liners, a superfluous sexy dance sequence by Jamie Lee Curtis, and a buddy-cop aesthetic -- yup, this is the sort of action film pushed to excess that ruled in the nineties, back when people still went to see movies for "that scene".
A spiritual predecessor to future over-the-top-a-thons like Bad Boys 2, True Lies represents Cameron doing what he does best, and is proof that he was at his A-game when he didn't bother trying to rationalize his audacity with morals.
