Review of True Lies (1994) by J Brigham H — 21 Jul 2012
TRUE LIES is a true peculiarity: an R-rated family action film. Although tainted by some 90's-type Arabic stereotypes, it's an impressive combination of action, comedy and family drama. The humor is mainly from the goofy/absurdity department with moments of surprisingly sophisticated wit, while the action is very over-the-top, spectacle-heavy spy movie stuff.
The heart of the story is driven mainly by Schwarzenegger and Curtis' neglected marriage; the kind that frequents family adventures where the family must unite in the midst of the revelation of a family member's secret life.
It's not a very strong R either and would probably be a great family night movie for families with older kids.
