Review of True Legend (2010) by Samuel N — 21 Feb 2010
Nothing short of an orgy of old-school wushu display. Despite the linear plot, everything flows perfectly. This is the authority in what modern Kung Fu shows should be - fine blend of gritty and rapid-fire sequences peppered sparingly with the magic of SFX. Truly, the True Legend is Yuen Woo-Ping himself, master of Kung Fu choreo.
Beyond that, it is pleasing to see Jay Chou almost stealing the show - his finest ever acting performance. Great tribute too for legends David Carradine, Michelle Yeoh and Chia Hui Liu. And Zhou Xun is perfect as the inspiration behind the Drunken Fist with her specially-imbued wine...
