A supremely impressive performance by Hailee Steinfeld and a quirky portrayal of Rooster Cogburn by Jeff Bridges combine to make this quite an enjoyable western, of which there are far too few made these days.
A basic story of revenge that challenges stereotypes to become more than that - an indictment of judging people by looks, age or gender.
