Review of True Grit (2010) by Marvin B — 16 Jan 2013
Yet another film I've seen recently that's been good, but by no means great. I can't even really say why, it's visually impressive, the dialogue is excellent in places and it's pretty well acted.
The central three all shine, the young lady playing Mattie in particular. I think Bridges gives his lines well, frankly it hard to tell. But for me there's just something missing, something that stops this becoming a classic. It's certainly no Open Range.
