Review of True Grit (2010) by Bikerjames — 18 Jan 2011
I have to start by stating that I love most of the Coen brothers films, their style just appeals to me. They have a knack for getting great performances from actors and this film is certainly no exception.
Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and especially Hailee Steinfeld are great and have great chemistry together. I like that they chose to use the dialect of the time. Sometimes I didn't quite understand all the words, especially from Jeff Bridges who is drunk and mumbles, but the story was easy to follow anyway.
There is always some humor in a Coen Brothers film, but this one is the funniest one they have made in awhile. As usual the cinematography is excellent as well. I saw this the day after seeing the overrated "The Black Swan" - what a breath of fresh air after that movie.
