Review of True Grit (2010) by Movieboy — 01 Jan 2011
It could be my favorite film of the year. I usually love the Coen Brothers work. I'm not really a Western fan, and don't care if it's a sort of remake. But I was enthralled from beginning to end. Finally we get to see a great film.
As to why it was snubbed by the Golden Globes, unbelievable - but then they nominated The Tourist, which was mildly entertaining. And what's up with Black Swan? So over the top. Anyways the Coens have done it again.
Fantastic performance by Hailee Steinfeld, who commands the screen. Wonderful to see "The Dude" back. Superior film making in every way, from script to cinematography and soundtrack.
