Review of True Grit (2010) by Enigma13 — 25 Dec 2010
You'll need "true grit" to get through this one. In a word - monotone. Slow pace, too much dialogue (monologues), gratuitous violence, poor editing. Scenes that should/could have been surprises were simply confusing because the film lacked story development.
We plodded from one ho-hum conversation to the next with a shot of violence dropped in now and then to [try to] break the monotony. I'm a major Coen brothers fan but afraid they missed the mark here.
Spend your money if you need a nap.
