Review of Trucker (2008) by Ioannis S — 17 Feb 2010
The story of an independant female trucker, unwilling to own up to the life she is leading or the one she left behind. Trucker is a slow paced indie film written and directed by James Mottern, staring Michelle Monaghan as Diane the trucker, who for me looks very sexy, one of my high points. She has a previous life with her son Peter (Jimmy Bennett) who she is very distant from and from childbirth, so she gave him up to his father Len (Benjamin Bratt), to go on with her life. When she has to take him back, while his father is getting better in the hospital, she has to learn the ways of raising and loving children With a little help from her only friend Runner (Nathan Fillion). This film has solid acting but weak on story and dialogue. It was tough for me to get into this one. Often I enjoy realistic films like this one, that feel like a biography, but I have to like the characters to connect with them. Michelle was a tough sell, she is to stubborn and shelfish. I would have been more pleased if it was a little faster paced and made more of an impact or a least more up lifting. Overall it was a nice film but I wouldn't watch it again.
5 wins.
