Review of Troy (2004) by Eli N — 27 Oct 2011
Wolfgang petersen's lousy attempt at an epic movie. a poorly weaved version of the original greek tragedy. they got the characters wrong and they left out the gods, which is silly because it was the gods who started the war in the first place not paris and helen.
it was a war rooted from vanity and power struggle. I like brad pitt but he is too old to play achilles. hate the lines, hate the attitude, hate the character altogether. "immortality, take it, it's yours!" too cheesy to be considered a battle cry.
my sympathies were with hector, his was a better written character in my opinion. garrett hedlund was a revelation though and peter o' toole was impeccable as always.
