Review of Trouble with the Curve (2012) by Sandy K — 08 May 2013
Gus (Clint Eastwood) is an aging baseball scout struggling with failing eyesight and a front office mindset that is moving away from the old-school methods of evaluating prospects. His strained relationship with his daughter (Amy Adams) is the story's focus as he scouts a hotshot high school star.
There is no subtlety here - the high school star is an arrogant jerk, and the front office man who has it in for Gus is a caricature. But it's hard not to enjoy watching Eastwood, Adams and Justin Timberlake together despite the screenplay's weaknesses - terrific actors and great chemistry.
