Review of Trouble the Water (2008) by Rob M — 31 Jan 2010
While it can't possibly compete with Spike Lee's comprehensive documentary it succeeds because its something very different. The scenes shot hours before the documentary hit are chilling and give you goose bumps, and the stuff shot during just glues your eyes to the screen.
The focus of the documentary isn't on politics or race but the lives of a handful of people. That said the last third or so of the movie really drags and seems to lose its power.
