Review of Tropic Thunder (2008) by Ali S — 31 Jul 2012
What a difficult movie to rate! There were things that I absolutely loved about it and there were entire scenes that seemed pointless and not funny. The premise was amusing. Robert Downey Jr. was amazing and out-acted all the others by a landslide.
Tom Cruise dancing to hip hop is one of my favourite moments ever in film. (Great way to close the film too.) I actually found the relationship between Stiller's character and his agent to be quite touching.
lol But the plot itself couldn't sustain itself. It lost steam early on. And while there were funny moments, a lot of the humour was lacking. I would suggest watching it if this is your kind of comedy but don't keep your expectations too high.
