Review of TRON: Legacy (2010) by Zoltán L — 03 Nov 2012
In the sci-fi â(TM)Tronâ(TM) Sam Flynn, the son of Kevin Flynn, looks into his fatherâ(TM)s disappearance and finds himself in a weird digital world of evil programs and gladiatorial games. His father has been living here for 20 years in exile. The audience travels through with Sam, Kevin and Quorra this visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and dangerous than in 1982.
I was about 6 years old when my father bought our first personal computer, and I was about 8 when I first saw the original 1982 movie â(TM)Tronâ(TM). As a kid I was really interested in the borderless world what computers could provide that time already. I was deeply involved in the universe of â(TM)Tronâ(TM), I found it amazing but scary as well.
I am 21 years old now, Iâ(TM)ve downloaded both the original and the new movie in hd. I started to watch the old one, but I had to turn it off. Those visual effects, which made me amazed as a child look simply foolish today. And what about the new version of â(TM)Tronâ(TM)? Of course itâ(TM)s visually stunning as almost every movie nowdays. But people, especially the young ones are getting use to these very strong stimuli. Dolby digital and stunning effects just canâ(TM)t make me satisfied anymore.
I found that Tron Legacy is basically an enjoyable film. Although the plot is not very strong, the dialogues are simple, I liked the characters and the action scenes. Itâ(TM)s perfect for a popcorn movie, but if you want to watch it at home youâ(TM)ll definetely need at least a 50â? display and a 5.1 sound system.
As an 8 year old boy â(TM)Tronâ(TM) had a huge effect on me, despite of itâ(TM)s old visuals. As a 21 year old university student, I definetely wonâ(TM)t remember the movie â(TM)Tron Legacyâ(TM) in a few months. And itâ(TM)s not because itâ(TM)s a very bad film. Itâ(TM)s because I personally donâ(TM)t appreciate computers, internet and IT stuff that much anymore. I surely believe that we can live a happy life without computers. Of course lot of things are a way easier in our lifes thanks to computers an internet, for example I have a huge music and film collection. 20 years ago, if you wanted to see a rare movie, you had to put a lot of effort searching for it. Any kind of information was more valuable in the pre-internet era. And if something is valuable and you get it with hard work, you become pleased and happy.
In 1997 I thought that computers are amazing and important parts of the world. As a child I always tried to imagine how a computer system should look like from the inside. And â(TM)Tronâ(TM) gave me some ideas. In 2010 I am not trying to imagine the â(TM)magicalâ(TM) world of a computers soul. And I have no fear that computers are going to rule the world. I have more important things in my life.
