Review of TRON: Legacy (2010) by Andy B — 14 Jan 2013
At face value, Tron Legacy feels a little pointless as the original 1982 Tron film is not fantastic nor really felt like a story that could be expanded into a sequel, but Disney defied logic to make this techno-adventure as well as make it appeal to kids.
The original stands apart primarily for its groundbreaking (for its time) visuals, and while this film has those in spades and greatly updates the look pioneered by the original, its plot suffers as a result.
It's hard to say exactly how many who flocked to see the film fully understood its (in comparison to its visuals) irrelevant series of events, but Tron Legacy tries to get too many things down pat (visuals, check; distinctive soundtrack, check) and falls short.
