Review of TRON: Legacy (2010) by Jack N — 31 Jul 2013
Much like the first one this is a fun and awesome ride filled with special effect wonders and a spectacular soundtrack by Daft Punk. However the thinly disguised subplot of the whole Clu/Hitler wiping out the ISO/Jews could have used a bit more work.
But there was more social issues included this movie such as eugenics, and the western God's creation story which really spiced up the film. However the dialog could be very cheesy at time and the story could have used so major tweaking.
Another thing that bugged me was at the beginning there were these corporate fat cats ruining Jeff Bridges character main vision by charging their software when he wanted it free. So Sam (The main character) uploads the software data on the web so that people can have it free before it would be officially released.
The cops chase him and eventually caught him. Then a minute later he walks out of jail!! Like upload software from a major corporation and pirating it just gets you a slap on the wrist. But after this the main plot picks up and this whole "Greedy Business men are ruining my father hard work" plot just disappears for good! Most of the actors in this film had VERY weak characters, except Jeff Bridges but even then Jeff can't improve the poor script.
Over all tron is much the first one with its focus on fun and special effects over character depth. After all when I saw the trailer I wasn't looking for a character piece, I was looking for a return to the world of Tron.
