This movie tried to add a bit too much in terms of substance, so viewers tend to get lost with the various splitting story lines. However, avoiding the outstanding visual effects and music, this movie holds a lot of pertinent philosophical questions as we progress into an age where technology is 'sucking us in.' The character development isn't in the spotlight so much as the philosophical stuff, but by no means is it absent. Just don't get too caught up in visual effects and overlook them. The original Tron asked "What's in like in the computer?" Tron: Legacy might ask "How does a computer learn and evolve?" These questions mirror our own scientific queries into our technology and match those asked at the time these movies were created. I feel a third movie would do so much more to clear up some of the haze that was created with Tron: Legacy, though, and you'll have to check out Tron: Uprising or some other websites to get the scoop on events leading up to Tron: Legacy. I've been a fan of Tron since I first understood it (after seeing it a few times). This movie has a lot of nods to the original and really does a great job continuing those philosophical questions. People will argue that character development is an issue here, but I see enough to promote the story and create an emotional tie to the viewer. If you don't, well, that's up to you, really. Not everything is going to be presented on a silver platter. Sometimes it's subtle. The movie tries to bring in a LOT of story, which ultimately leaves you asking a lot of questions after seeing it, but many of these can be answered with a few wiki pages.

Also, the movie info for this site is wrong. The MCP is NOT booted back up again. It's a different system altogether as Flynn says near the start of the movie.

Go see it. Then watch it again. The first time you'll see the bright and shiny lights, which is fine. The second time, focus on the meat of the story. You'll get so much more out of it.
