Review of Tron (1982) by Tommy B — 04 Jan 2011
Beyond being a major technological achievement for its time, this movie tells a compelling story about the fight for freedom against an all powerful and cruelly domineering authority. The plight of the programs is an allegory for the struggle that mankind itself faces in an era in which our humanity and our liberty is being stolen from us by forces that seem beyond our control.
Yet, an individual or a small group of individuals have the power to make a difference. The religious themes are also very poignant, as is the theme of persecution for one's faith. Even more relevant now than it was 28 years ago.
Thus, it is a classic. Can't wait to see the sequel.
