Review of Tron (1982) by Billy S — 09 Apr 2011
I've gotten 2415 times smarter since then.
A couple of friends that are all programmers are taken back by a strange program that has become the premise of their employer. The program has caused them all to lose access to aspects of their programs and they decide to do some digging into the background for these actions. One of the programmers that have been the most adversely affected by the program is mysteriously sucked into the computer program where he discovers a world of corruption and epic battles that resemble video games.
"I can arrange more lethal battles.".
Steven Lisberg, director of Animalypics, Hot Pursuit, and Slipstream, delivers Tron. The storyline for this picture was unique, especially for when it was released. The action scenes and graphics were well done and the costumes were interesting. The cast delivers solid performances and includes Jeff Bridges, Cindy Morgan, Barnard Hughes, Bruce Boxleitner, David Warner, and Peter Jurasik.
"Who does he calculate he is?".
Tron is a movie that I always found boring and never really grasped the concept as a kid. When the previews first aired for the sequel to this picture I touched base with my wife and she had the same feelings about this movie. Watching this together recently we both found this movie fascinating and a step up from similar movies in the genre such as Hackers and The Wizard. I strongly recommend seeing this picture.
"The system's got more bugs than a bait shop.".
Grade: B+.
