Review of Tron (1982) by Sergio E — 08 May 2011
The 80s dialogue, costuming, and props do not detract from this movie at all. Still very watchable. I especially appreciate that visual effects weren't used to replace the story. I was expecting some really annoying light cycle scenes that would aggravate my pod race rash but it was well done. They seemed to drop the computer jargon after awhile which I thought was unfortunate.
A couple of questions: What was up with the emotional computer programs? Does my backgammon game really a group of swinging singles? Does Microsoft Office go home to a family when I shut it down? Weird.
Why is it called Tron? Shouldn't it be called Clu or shouldn't Kevin Flynn be Tron? Also weird.
It was fun to see all the actors in Pre-Babylon 5 roles. I didn't recognize Boxleitner or Jurasik at first.
They could remaster this movie and call it Matrix: Preloaded for the 30 year anniversary.
