Review of Trolls (2016) by Carlotta 4 — 27 Nov 2016
This movie is about what you would expect. Relatively harmless family fun with a lot of color, fart jokes, and a generic plot.
To be fair, I appreciated the more silly aspects of it like the hair powers and creatures present in the wild. I also quite liked the felt textures present everywhere, that was a nice aesthetic difference! But other than that I wasn't too enthused. This is a jukebox musical and those are hard to stomach at best (though the movie did try to at least make the songs relevant to the plot).
It all just felt so.... typical, I guess? Nothing particularly stood out from any other kid film. The plot does exactly what you expect it will. So do the characters. Not terrible but not breaking any ground either.
