Review of Troll Hunter (2010) by Tlhg — 23 Dec 2016
This movie is awesome! Everything is put together so cleverly and works so well, they simply nailed it: this movie is meant to entertain and it hits right at the center of the target. This little package filled with dark comedy, adventure, and monster-horror features very good editing and cinematography for a found-footage flick, great acting, beautiful landscapes, and great visual effects (some of the most convincing CGI I have ever seen).
If you are considering watching, I totally recommend as long as you are in the mood for a fun, fast paced adventure. Another thing, this is mostly a mockumentary format, and as such it is a very self-aware piece, and I think that viewers will appreciate it better if they know it from the start.
One last thing, the movie builds a lot (almost fully) on Norwegian folklore (it is meant for a Norwegian audience primarily), and I think that, if you come from a different culture, it might be a good idea to read just a little bit about it before going into the movie, cause some premises and ideas that are essential in Troll Hunter may sound silly if you don't know that they are rooted in ancient northern tales.
Why don't I give it a ten? There could be more story development.
