Review of Triumph of the Will (1935) by Mike P — 19 Jul 2007
A historical film, shot during the ruling of the third Reich to promote the power of the Nazi party. This film is pure Hitler propaganda but it does hold great significance, not only on the history or war and politics but also in cinema.
The Camera movement is extraordinary for its time, with circling techniques and shot bridging. This is also one of the first documentaries ever produced and began the use of film as propaganda by many countries.
Note how the director (who was not a Nazi supporter) created the image that all of Germany's population is in this film as Nazi supporters. Also note a particular scene that was later re-enacted in "Star Wars".
