Review of Triumph of the Will (1935) by Leighton T — 27 Sep 2009
In terms of filmmaking, the camerawork is excellent. An excellent documentary and propoganda piece - even though we know it's coming from the wrong side. In terms of message, a terrifying glimpse at the political rally launching the Nazi's rise to power.
What I found the most disheartening watching this was the myriad of shots of the German people with hope and passion on their faces. They believed in this man and he took them down a road they are still and will always be trying to live down.
The last half is extremely tedious and borders on strict boredom as the processions are quite long.
