Review of Tristana (1970) by Henri L — 11 Mar 2008
This might not be the best work from Bunuel - but not said that it's not a great movie! "Tristana" might lack the edge and the "obvious risky business" we're used to from the Spanish church criticizer, but it still has some interesting views on morale.
It's characters all represent several sides and they're never just one representation of man. In fact, the character called Tristana (played beautifully by a 27 year old Catherine Deneuve) is a never ending study.
A film about sexuality, acceptance and cynicisme vs. happiness.
