Review of Triple 9 (2016) by Dave M — 26 Feb 2016
Solidly directed cop-heist drama with enough tension to sustain the almost 2hrs duration, even though the script feels a little derivative - I just can't shake the feeling that I have seen this before - and the ending is a tad too neat and tidy for a film that strives so hard to be dirty and gritty.
One thing that stands out is that they have assembled a good looking and immensely watchable bunch of actors, and though no one is breaking a sweat playing their roles, there is enough greyness in the casting to distract and mislead as to who's good and who's bad - adding to the suspense and elevating it (just) above your average cops 'n robbers pantomime.
