Review of Trick 'r Treat (2007) by Brad R — 12 Oct 2012
Shamefully and unceremoniously released directly video in 2009 after a brief, sporadic treatment of film festival screenings, writer/director Michael Dougherty's "Trick 'r Treat" is one overlooked gem of a horror film, abundant in stylishly fresh visuals and positively terrifying moments.
Told in a four part anthology, each segment is lead by its own competent star including Dylan Baker, Anna Paquin, Bryan Cox, and a fine array of young child actors (Samm Todd, Britt McKillip, and Quinn Lord, to name a few).
To reveal anything about the four tales would be a disservice to any reader who has yet to see it, but rest assured that "Trick 'r Treat" is one of the best things you could watch around Halloween.
Indeed, it's the best horror movie I've seen in decades.
