Review of Trick 'r Treat (2007) by Shiela E — 04 Nov 2014
'Trick 'r Treat' (2007) is an anthology horror film both written and directed by Michael Dougherty. The movie stars 'True Blood' actress Anna Paquin, Dylan Baker, Brian Cox, and Rochelle Aytes in a series of four interweaved stories which all take place of Halloween night.
Its way more fun than it is scary, even despite the rather small amount of time you actually have to connect with the characters. From the costumes to the jack-o'-lantern, to the candy and scary stories, this movie really much honors the spirit and excitement of Halloween.
I know some people will find this film just a plain out stupid movie and complain that this movie has no 'real' conflicts or resolutions. My question to them is, who ever wanted this be real? It's a movie called 'Trick 'r Treat' (2007), not 'Philosophy of a Knife' (2008).
TRICK. OR. TREAT. In the end I got some blood, some morbid humor, and a good time worth out of a refreshing horror movie. If you liked this like I did, go check out 'Season's Greetings' (1996): an animated short by Michael Dougherty which features the pumpkin killer child Sam.
'It's COOL! They got STUFF!'.
