Review of Trick or Treat (2014) by Emily A — 27 Sep 2007
It's obscene how much fun this movie is. I speak as a metalhead and a horror nerd, but this movie is just endlessly amusing. I really like the premise too: some high school metalhead is able to hear his dead rock hero speak to him when he spins a rare record backwards.
This is one of the best surreal horror flicks of the 80s: the effects are really well done and it had some great just-desserts type moments. It kind of descended into campy, Nightmare On Elm Street territory near the end, but all in all this movie was a scream.
I loved the cameos by Simmons and Osbourne, and how they addressed the concerned parents who scorned metal in the 80s.
