Review of Triage (2009) by Francisco P — 14 Sep 2010
2: It's an interesting story that comes out at an interesting time. I can't recall ever seeing a film set in Kurdistan. The Iraq of the 1980's is not a period Hollywood has exactly embraced and Iraq never really had much of a film industry.
Farrell actually gives a solid performance, which was a bit surprising for me as I'm usually not much of a fan. I loved Paz Vega as always. This was the best work of hers I've seen since Sex & Lucia.
Christopher Lee was great as well. This performance made me wish he were acting in far more films at this point in his career. Engaging in this type of activity must be an incredible rush. It would certainly take a certain dedication to one's craft to venture into war zones with nothing but a camera.
I can see why many photojournalists would die as well, as I could certainly imagine the lens functioning as a barrier between the photographer and the surrounding events that would give them a false sense of security.
