Review of Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell (2018) by Alexander B — 25 May 2018
NOt sure what happened to the creative team from Tremors 5 but this latest installment is a big disappointment. Not sure if it is intentionally a 'light reboot' but many, many of the plot points are thinly rehashed points from the original.
The acting is bad, there are several places where the low(?) budget really shows through, not to mention the giant plotholes, the inconsistent and feeble writing. If you can make it past the cold opener and believe they are in snow (not at White Sands) then perhaps you'll enjoy the rest.
If you haven't seen 5 watch it instead, better watching 5 a second time is more enjoyable that watching this the first time. The only writing worth noting [potential spoiler] one of the characters is the daughter of VAL and Rhonda from the original, but even that is mostly a throwaway point, bummer.
