Review of Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001) by Dead-Head M — 28 Feb 2009
Another funny Tremors film, I prefer this to the first sequel, because it is deliberately reminiscent of the first film, being set in the same town with the same residents, and the worms are back. Unfortunately so are the shriekers, but sensing these are lame, the film doesn't show them much and instead introduces us to the third stage of their lifecycle, which nicely explains why these creatures keep mutating.
It has a witty script, loads of fun references and it all ties up. These films work because they are both stand-alone films, and a connecting trilogy, which most franchises fail to do.
If there are problems here, it is that creatures that create flame probably wouldn't hunt by sensing heat and that the three feds are set up only to be killed off quickly and off screen, seemly only having been introduced to explain the end gag. Still, a lot of fun.
