Review of Tremors (1990) by Leanne B — 02 Nov 2009
I first saw Tremors over 7 years ago when my cousins invited me to watch it with them for Thanksgiving. It scared the crap out of me. It was suspensful, it was gory, and it had giant, man-eating worms.
Now that may sound stupid, but that's only because it is stupid. Tremors is one of the most stupid movies I have ever seen... and I love it. I've watched this movie over 30 times in the 7 years I've known about it, and it's still fun to watch.
Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon both give hilarious, and well done performances, as do the rest of the cast. The creature effects are where the movie really shines though. The monster worms (known as graboids) are excellently detailed.
The movie doesn't use any computer effects (that I know of) either, giving it a much more life-like look. It is, to this day, my favorite B-movie of all time. If you like monster movies, western horrors, and Kevin Bacon, then you need to watch Tremors.
It's amazing.
