Review of Tremors (1990) by Bob H — 16 Jul 2010
A bit of a guilty pleasure, this remains one of my favorite movies of all time, mostly for nostalgic value and its all around amusingness. A B style horror movie all the way around, but its elevated by original monsters, and really funny and outlandish characters.
Bacon and Ward are great together, written with terrific dialouge. Michael Gross creates one of my favorite characters ever with Burt Gummer, the paranoid survivalist. The special effects are actually quite good for their time, and it does have a couple of genuinely creepy moments, but most of its value comes as a tounge in cheek horror/comedy.
This movie holds alot of personal meaning for me, as it was one of my favorites growing up, and continues to be the most quoted and immitated movies among myself and my family.
