Review of Tremors (1990) by Ronnie G — 28 Mar 2013
Hello my name is Baurushan and this is my review of Tremors starring Kevin Bacon who is the only actor I recognise well in this movie. The movie is set in the western where two handymen played by Kevin bacon and Fred Ward stumble upon phenomena including a couple of people who've died under extremely strange circumstances.
Eventually they and their neighbours come across a handful of gigantic worm-like creatures that streak under the desert the way fish swim through oceans, reaching up and grabbing anything they need for food.
One of their neighbours realise that these species are blind and it uses vibration to detect its food. So using that idea, they try to save all their locals as possible and run out of their hometown after they blow up these giant monster worms to gory bits.
All the characters are written well especially Kevin Bacon who shines the most in this movie as you can tell. The monsters are amazingly scary! I am a huge fan of monster movies such as The Blob, The Thing, Jaws and this movie.
The practical effects for the giant worms were perfect. This movie is an obvious homage to the 1950s horror movie era famously known as the "creature feature" even though the homage is not visible in this movie, that's a good thing because it doesn't have to meaning that it at least it doesn't have to be a direct reference to whatever past movies the recent movie is making tribute to.
This is one of the best horror movies I have seen ever and I think my horror movie list is now expanding thanks to more great horror movies. Tremors gets a 9.5/10.
