Underground creatures are always a great move in monster movies with a budget as you can get away with showing as little or as much of the beasties as you like. Tremors plays this to the hilt with curiously entertaining effect.

A collection of rather bad tempered subterranean gigantic worms set about terrorising the small community of Perfection as the inhabitants led by Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward try to escape before they literally become worm food.

Tremors has a great sense of fun running throughout it. The very nature of it's beast means that it's difficult to take too seriously which works very well with the comic book style characters, all of whom are likeable which makes the whole film much more enjoyable. Although the death scenes are largely restricted to people getting eaten, the variety of ways is entertaining, in particular the scene in which a woman and her car are buried and devoured by one of the worms.

There's little in the way of plot development in the film but the characters themselves make up for this and a smartish script helps too.

Tremors is a decent monster movie that works because it plays it predominantly for cheesy entertainment value rather than the scares.
