Review of Tremors (1990) by Jon L — 30 Jun 2010
Classic old-fashioned 1950s creature flick updated to the '90s - and who would have thought it would be this good? In fact, it's damn near flawless, with likable characters, a great pair of reluctant heroes in Bacon and Ward, one of the best characters in all of horrordom in Burt Gummer (who would sadly star in the woeful third movie in the series), and some fantastic NATURAL (read: non-CGI) "Graboid" effects.
In addition to that, this movie is a lot like "Aliens" - nonstop tension for the final half that's utterly ingenious in piling things on to its claustrophobic situation. Very recommended.
