Review of Tremors (1990) by Aj G — 02 Oct 2010
Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward star as down-on-their-luck country handymen Val McKee and Earl Bass. Two rednecks from Perfection Nevada, who decide to pack it all in, pack it all up and head for the big city. But strange seismic activity prevents their departure...and it isn't long before the two men discover that their tiny town is infested with gigantic prehistoric worm-like creatures that tunnel underground AND that are hell-bent on turning the entire population of Perfection into an all THEY can eat buffet. Now, with the help of a visiting seismology student (Finn Carter) the race is on to defeat these slimy subterraneans and get the survivng townsfolk to higher ground in this funny, fright-filled masterpiece from director Ron Underwood.
Tremors is a brilliant homage to the old monster movies of the 1950's and has everything that you could want in a horror/ comedy. Action, laughs, zany characters (Michael Gross is exceptional) and fantastic creature effects...it's one heck of a ride. Highly recommended.
