Review of Tremors (1990) by Adam F — 03 Dec 2012
"Tremors" works; with likeable characters, unique monsters with a great gimmick and a smart story you'll have a great time watching it. There are a lot of moments that will have you laughing and when you're not laughing you'll be on the edge of your seat wondering how these characters will get out of the dire situation they've found themselves in.
One of the best things about the film are the special effects. These are all practical effects, using puppets, miniatures and costumes and they really work. One of the funnest things about these type of 1950's style monster movies is getting to see the monster, getting to know how it works and finding out how your heroes are going to take it down and "Tremors" delivers on all of these.
Thankfully in addition to being unique and likeable, the characters (and the writing) is smart so you won't ever be thinking to yourself "wow, these characters are stupid and I can't get behind them because there is no way they deserve to live after that mistake".
Don't mistake this for a horror film because it isn't, it's a comedic adventure monster movie that's sure to have you satisfied. (Dvd, December 1, 2012).
