Review of Tremors (1990) by Maximus D — 26 Sep 2015
Tremors is directed by S.S Wilson and Brent Maddock. It stars Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward and Finn Carter. It is a very cheesy but enjoyable monster movie. It is set in a small desert town in America. The town is attacked by strange snake like monsters that can sense people from their movement.
The monsters are incredibly well done, the practical effects are very realistic and make the movie feel like this could actually happen. The movie has some very tense moments, which is good but they are eventually ruined by a bad script.
The movie doesn't know what quite to do, it doesn't know if it should be serious or not. And that's where the faults lie. It should really be a funny movie, but it isn't. And that's not say it doesn't have funny moments, because it does.
It just has too few of them. It is much too serious for what it is. But the performances are very good and the concept is also very good, and it is one of the better low-budget monster movies. 2.5/4.
