Review of Trees Lounge (1996) by Conor S — 09 Jan 2008
A very intertaining and somewhat different look at alcoholism. Buscemi wrote, directed and starred in it, and its clearly a very personal subject, but it hardly is a "pity" story. For the most part, Tommy comes off as a very likable guy who just needs to lay off the sauce a bit.
The patrons of the bar are seem so real and fun to be around, even the horrbly depressed ones. What's great is that there's really no clear message or lesson at the end of the movie, just to not drink so much and to not try to fuck underage girls.
Simple stuff like that.
