Review of Treasure Planet (2002) by Tiffany W — 21 Nov 2008

I actually liked this one a lot, overall. I've always enjoyed Dougg Williams' character designs, especially Jim's. I did find fault in the annoying sidekicks (B.E.N. in particular, since the producers seemed to be basing his over-the-top personality on the Genie from Aladdin), the sometimes glaringly bad CGI found in certain parts where Deep Canvas was used, and the ill-fitting, embarrassingly bad selection of music used in the father-son montage.

As far as plot goes, however, I applaud Disney for stepping outside the box a bit and going with something different. The Jim/Silver relationship was convincingly done, and a breath of fresh air after so many Disney love stories.
