Review of Treasure Planet (2002) by Sam F — 16 Jan 2013
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jim Hawkins? Whaaaaat?! Treasure Planet is a great visual buffet slammed packed with action, filled to the brim with adventure, and sprinkled with a dose of comedy. This movie makes it to my list of favorite cartoon movies, (which actually went higher up when I found out my main man JG-L was the voice of the lead character).
Even though the movie is a spin off of the classic book Treasure Island, written by Robert Louis Stevenson, the writers made this movie stand totally apart with the creative enhancement to all the characters, story, and places.
The visual design of the movie is totally awesome. From sky surfing to the crescent moon space station, this movie is a must see for all science fiction and Treasure Island lovers everywhere. [Violence 4/10, Language 1/10, Sexual Content 1/10].
