Review of Treasure Planet (2002) by Jake H — 26 Jul 2014

Growing up, and even at my current age, I've always been a fan of animated films. I think they're truly underrated and under appreciated by a fair portion of the film community, and it really pisses me off when they're merely dismissed as kids films, even though they often times possess more heart and creativity than a lot of live action films out there.

Treasure Planet is, in my opinion, a pristine example of just how good animated movies can get. It has great writing, clever dialogue, amazing art direction, good characters, and an emotional core that stays with the story every step of the way.

A lot of big budget Hollywood flicks can't say that. Plus, for anyone who's a fan of the original story Treasure Island by Robert Lewis Stevenson, this is actually as surprisingly faithful adaptation.
