Review of Trash (2014) by Zainab R — 16 Feb 2016
The movie's name( trash )is nothing compared to the quality of the movie itself as it entails an audience fascinating editing and cinematography and an immense directing by Stephen DALDRY. Trash is a two hour performance with most of its scenes articulated in Portuguese and a few in English. As the movie sets in Brazil, it not only lats bare the rate of corruption and poverty but also the corruption in the country.
Trash tells the story of a fortune year old teenage boy Raphael(TEVEZ ) who lives and work in the trash in expectation of finding something useful for survival. one day, on resumption to his daily job, he comes across a leather wallet which contains incriminating informations agains their corrupt government, causing Raphael and his two friends Gardo( Edwardo luis ) and Rato (Gabriel weinstein) victims to the wrath of the corrupt government official santos (Stephen nercessain). As the three boys stop at nothing to to uncover the truth behind the mysterious wallet, and therefore face difficulties, they get help from a British priest father Julliard (Martin sheen) and his daughter teacher Olivia (Rooney mara). In the three boys course of fighting, they exhibit an ample load of tolerance, strength, perseverance and friendship.
Trash is an action packed and adventurous movie movie with a captivating suspense. supporting its quality with an emotional score and compelling costumes as the casts were dressed in rags. the acting in the drama is aslo one that should receive praises considering that it is coming from inexperienced child actors that brilliantly executed their roles. nevertheless, though the plot was a good one, it was too focused on the adventure of the fight for justice rather than the goal the fight.
With a cinematography and editing that makes even trash almost beautiful, an exciting editing/ and a likable child acting, trash is a movie that should be recommended for an audience searching for great visual effects and a strong story line. The movie should definitely not be judged by its title but should be given a chance. And if you hold the saying that "do not be fooled by the trailer", trust me ,the trailer is enough to assure you that it is a movie that is worth the two hours duration.
