Trapped in Paradise: The love of a community changes lives.

The value of this film for everyone is an example of how a wonderful townspeople who are decent and kind to three brothers who are bank robbers change these three boys' hearts from greed to doing good will towards men. Trapped in Paradise is a movie that reverses the community dynamic from the classic Christmas film It's a Wonderful Life. In It's a Wonderful Life, George Bailey is the one person who holds a community together, and his community is saved and is better off for it because of his selfless actions throughout his life. Instead, Trapped in Paradise is a movie about a town entirely populated by George-Bailey-type characters who are able to transform the three main characters because of the influence of a kind-hearted community as a whole. It's a Wonderful Life is one individual changing a community however Trapped in Paradise is the power that a kind-hearted community has to change individuals.

Three Firpo brothers, Bill Firpo (Nicolas Cage, Alvin (Dana Carvey), and Dave (Jon Lovitz), have been brought up and raised by a single parent and a much less fortunate family values and circumstances. Even though the brothers are close they are tempted to make the wrong choice. Even though two of the three brothers have just been released from jail and are on parole they plan to steal from a semi unguarded bank in a small-town paradise. While they are there they find true love from the locals in the small town and place of value, love, caring, and family. The Firpo boys' hearts are changed forever. They start to value these things of love and care over temptations of money and greed.

The first thing that began to change the hearts and minds of these three Firpo brothers was while they were robbing the bank. The people in the bank were so kind to them. They were so accommodating they were comical. Bill (Nicolas Cage) also fell in love with the bank manager's daughter who was such a contrast from his mother who common and encouraged her boys to steal. The bank manager's daughter was in contrast to the Firpos mother, was very decent and classy and level headed woman. Another moment in the film was when the bank manager's wife was also so kind to them and invited them over for dinner and treated them like as if they were part of the family. Despite all the kindness the townspeople were offering they still robbed the bank, and after a long chase from the cops in a sled, they were hungry, exhausted, wet, tired, and ended back at the bank manager home. This time the wife goes overboard and offers her own husband's Christmas presents to the three Firpo brothers so they have dry clothes to wear and invites them to family Christmas dinner. After dinner one Firpo Brother, Bill, wants to give the money back after hearing how stealing is going to affect the towns people but isn't sure how he will do it. The townspeople continued to show kindness and change the heart and souls of these three brothers.

This is a cute comedy that will keep your attention throughout the movie. One scene when younger Firpo boy is suggesting crime the old brother looks at him and he has the funniest expression on his face. In this scene is when Bill says "wipe the whooomeee look of your face!" Another funny scene is when the Firpo boys are invited to the banks managers home for Christmas dinner and the one Firpo boy (who is a helpless kleptomaniac) hogs all the gravy and he says "It's got scallions.' while he continues to pour the whole pot of gravy on his plate with a chuckle right after. It's just such a cute and entertaining movie the whole family can enjoy.

This is a movie to remember as a tradition for your family to watch every Christmas holiday with your other favorites like the movie It's a Wonderful Life. While watching It's a Wonderful Life it will refresh how we as individuals can affect a town likewise. While watching Trapped in Paradise it reminds us as people in a community as a whole to be decent and kind to each other and people coming into our community and how we will influence people around us to be good to all men.
