Review of TransSiberian (2008) by Kevin R — 30 Dec 2009
Don?t you be talking to strangers.
Roy and Jessie are a married couple who do not get out much; so when the church provides them with an opportunity to travel on a train across the Russian countryside, they jump at the chance for a romantic getaway. However, their romantic plans are quickly washed away when they encounter a couple who may be drug smugglers. After they feel that they have dismissed the drug smugglers, their new cabin mate is a Russian detective. Jessie and Roy will need to escape being murdered and/or tortured by the drug dealer and the Russian police force.
?With lies you may go ahead in the world but you never go back.?
Ryan Anderson, director of The Machinist and the upcoming Vanishing on 7th Street, delivers Transibberian. The storyline for this picture is amazing and reminded me of the Alfred Hitchcock picture Strangers on a Train. The characters were brilliant delivered and developed and the acting was outstanding. The cast included Woody Harrelson, Ben Kingsley, Emily Mortimer (Scream 3 and Shutter Island), Kate Mara (Iron Man 2), and Eduardo Noriega (Wolf).
?What did he say??
?I have no idea, but he pointed that way.?
Transiberrian is a film I caught on The Movie Channel (TMC) last night when I arrived home from work and I was shocked at how good this film was. This film reminded me of a better version Fargo or Strangers on a Train (yes, it is that good). If you are looking for a modern day Hitchcock style picture, I recommend getting your hands on this DVD. This movie is worth having in your DVD collection.
?Fear can drive you to irrational acts.?
Grade: A.
